What is a Bookkeeper?
A bookkeeper is someone who records the financial transactions and performs the basic bookkeeping function within a business. A bookkeeper will usually be capable of completing the daybooks, the accounting ledgers and be able to produce a trial balance from the accounting records.
In addition a book-keeper might also be involved in the following:
- Setting up bookkeeping systems
- Posting journal entries
- Reconciling accounts
- Calculating and preparing payrolls
- Completing and submitting tax forms
- Preparing sundry financial and accounting reports
